Yesterday we had our first Japanese meal out. We had been wondering how we’d get on communicating. At the fast food  restaurant we visited they had a clever solution. There was a huge vending machine with pictures of the food.  You make your selection and get a voucher which you hand over at the counter. Minutes later later we received huge bowls of steaming beef udon. Delicious!

  1. Fantastic! It all sounds very alien and exciting – as it should given the amount of time it took you to get there. It is sunny/rainy here, so nothing new. Have fun and keep posting.

  4. Hi Louisa!
We liked the photo of you all having dinner at the station. Did you like the ramen? Hope you were not nipped by those fierce-looking deer in Nara!

  5. Hello Granny and Pappa,
I was not looking my best in the photograph but thank you anyway. Yes; I enjoyed the Ramen restaurantalot. The prawns were lovely that i had. Despite this, I was rather surprised that they had eyes. Unfortunatley, anna regected her soy sauce. This meant that mum was stuffed with anna’s and with half of her own! Everything is going alright here in japan. Tommorow is our last day. We are going to an island called Miagima tommorow. Apparently, deer come into the sweet shop! Hope all is well in Brisbane. Lots of love from Louisa xxx
